The Approach

When one is unhappy and/or unhealthy, every so often, it is due to more than one single reason. It could be upbringing, inevitable life events that could be positive, negative, or mixed, physical illness, or things that just happened and leave us asking, "why me?"

I, as a human being, experience life just like you do. If you've read my story, you will understand how I found my values and why I am motivated to go through this journey with you. I didn't discover this know-how overnight, but I went through both personal and professional experiences and 'experiments' myself with tears and joy.

In the beginning of my journey in psychology, I soon discovered the mainstream of psychology itself is pretty negative on its own. People usually come across psychology when they cross paths with mental health struggles, and seek help to go back to a normal range of 0 from -5; sometimes, it's probably too late.

From my own experiences and upbringing, my mum always makes sure that we do whatever we can to prevent us from physical and mental illnesses. Plus, the journey of knowing myself better, I understand my barriers and maximise the use of my strengths. I did further research on prevention and came across the concept of Positive Psychology was new and only a decade old when I figured out this is what I wanted to pursue further in year 2010. I liked the idea that it helps people achieve life satisfaction and improve health and well-being to +5 on a scale via discovering one's best possible self, gratitude, mindfulness, thriving, self-awareness, etc.

I then applied what I've learned from Positive Psychology in the healthcare industry, specifically in Nursing and Midwifery. I was exposed to observing how our body and mind are well connected and how our behaviours impact one's health and well-being in many different ways.

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"

– by Benjamin Franklin

It is the core concept of Health Psychology, with understanding how people react to, cope with, and recover from illness. As well as focuses on how behaviours, cognitions, and emotions impact both physical and mental health via psychosocial and behavioral factors that enhance or undermine one's health.

I combined the essential elements of positive and health psychology, aiming to help individuals and organizations to thrive, to know one's strengths, and use them to become a better version of themselves, as well as to prevent one from any mental and/or physical illnesses, and achieve optimal health and well-being.

With almost 15 years of working experience as a psychologist and researcher, I constantly revise my approach based on the latest scientific findings and theories and use evidence-based practice interventions and tools to guide you toward living a meaningful life with positive changes and impacts.

With that in mind, I simplified complex theories and tools and aimed to make them practical and sustainable for you. I designed a comprehensive 'My 7 Leaf' framework to understand 7 core life aspects closely related to our everyday decision-making and impact in leading a sustainable life with optimal performance, health, and well-being.

What is "My 7 Leaf"?

It is essential to identify which core life aspects are the priorities to start making positive change, aiming to achieve a balanced, fulfilling, and lasting healthy living.

Being healthy should go beyond the absence of illness, and include health behaviours such as physical activity, diet, and sleep.

03

Psychological Health

We have to take care of our psychological health as much as we take care of our physical health. From quality of life, well-being, to resilience and optimism, there are ways to prevent mental health issues.

04

We spend a lot of time working, thus, it is essential to focus on a career that is fulfilling and meaningful.

Social & Environment

In most cases, environment is the outcome of human decision-making and human behaviour. Inevitably, it is a two-way stimulus to create a harmony living or work environment, or to the extent of the supportive society and community.
